Well Done South Island Team!
Well done to the South Island team that travelled to
Tauranga for the 2008 National Championships. It was

learned a lot of new tournament skills.

Self Defence Seminars
At the end of November the South Island is welcoming
back Phil and Athena Thompson from Protect Self Defence.
These seminars will cover the psychological aspects
and how to deal with the fear and adrenaline that you
will encounter if you areassaulted for real (rather
than by your partner in class...)
There will be 3 different seminars, one for general
self-defence situations, a short seminar on dealing
with being attacked with sticks and knives as well as
a rape prevention course for women. These seminars will
be held in Christchurch and are open to anyone who wishes
to learn more about self defence.

Unfortunately due to lack of numbers the South Island
Dan grading scheduled for November has been cancelled.
We are hoping to plan another one in May next year,
but we need to know that we will have enough people
so please let your instructors know or contact the Regional
