| The South Island Regional
Taekwon-Do Tournament was held on the 16th and 17th
April 2005 at the Anchor Stadium in Blenheim. With over
70 competitors it was also an opportune time to celebrate
the 50th birthday of the naming of Taekwon-Do.
The tournament was opened by our Regional Director,
Mr Kris Herbison, who set the scene for the tournament.
Many members of the local community came to watch and
support the events over the two-day period.

Thankfully injuries were kept to a minimum. There were
only four accident and emergency visits and no major
injuries. St Johns provided excellent coverage throughout
the tournament.
Saturday night a birthday celebration was held at Springlands
Tavern with a beautiful three-course meal, decadent
calorie infested chocolate cake and awesome company
to boot. Thanks to Mr Grant Evans who as normal entertained
us with his distribution of over 20 spot prizes. Mr
Herbison gave a wonderful birthday speech and all Juniors,
Seniors and supporters seemed to have a good time.
