On the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of March 2009 the Riccarton Club in Christchurch will be hosting a tournament and seminar weekend specifically designed for coloured belt students. The purpose of this weekend is to get some tournament experience before starting the formal competitions for the year, and to learn valuable skills that will help all of us to perform better in a tournament situation.

We are very fortunate to have Mr Mark Trotter (World Champion, Traditional Sparring), Mr Carl Van Roon (World Champion, Special Technique) and Miss Carolina Dillen (World Champion, 1st Dan Patterns) to help with coaching and the sparring, special technique and patterns segments of the seminar for the weekend. Mr Trotter, Mr Van Roon & Miss Dillen have all been competing and medalling at the World Championships for a number of years so their knowledge and experience will be an invaluable part of this weekend.

The tournament will be for individual events only, and for COLOURED BELTS ONLY. This means that the black belts will be completely available for coaching and officiating, as well as to answer any questions that the competitors may have during the course of the day.

This promises to be an excellent weekend and a great opportunity to learn from some of the best in the country, as well as get in some tournament practise before heading towards Regionals, Nationals or any other official tournament you were planning on entering this year.
